How easyfind works

How does easyfind differ from other systems?

The use of easyfind codes offers a number of advantages that you will only find at easyfind. These include, among others:
  • In addition to the usual keyrings you can apply codes from our extensive range of stickers, luggage tags, etc., to any item of property.
  • The easyfind software for lost property offices is widely used in Switzerland and Austria. You will be notified automatically by email and SMS as soon as an item bearing your code is handed in to a participating lost property office.
  • The software is also used by public transport authorities such as the SBB as well as by lost property offices. Again, you will be informed immediately as soon as a lost item is entered into the transport authority's lost and found system.
  • Finders can use the easyfind code to contact the owner directly via our website. We do not inform the finder of the owner's personal details. It is up to the finder and owner to exchange the necessary details.

How can I report a found item of property?

Finders can report a found item of property bearing an easyfind code in the section Item found!. This is achieved by entering the easyfind code which enables the item to be allocated to its registered owner. The finder can enter an email address or telephone number which will be forwarded to the owner. General information relating to items found that do not bear an easyfind code is available in the area General Information.

How do I know if an item of property bearing one of my easyfind codes has been found?

In this case you shouldn't need to do anything - you will be informed of the find either by email or SMS, depending on your selection. As a registered easyfind user you can also visit the area my easyfind and check under Search to see if an item belonging to you has been handed in to a participating lost property office.

How do I find a lost item that is not registered?

In the area labelled Lost Something? you can send an enquiry via Onlinesuche to the lost and found service in Switzerland and Austria.

How long is my easyfind code valid for?

You can check the validity and remaining duration of your easyfind codes at any time under my easyfind by clicking on the menu item "Manage Codes". You can also use the same menu item to purchase an extension for your code.

Are there any additional costs?

There are no other additional costs apart from those for ordering and shipping easyfind codes. All costs are included in the ordering process and clearly visible on the invoice.
Some of the participating transport authorities and lost property offices may raise a charge for returning a lost item of property (return charge, finder's reward, ?); you may therefore incur additional costs when you collect your property from these offices. For details please contact the office in possession of your property.
